Good afternoon, you are the owner of the domain name www.thedut.ch, which is hosted at transip; your contact is Mr. K. However, the website is not in use.
As a member of the Amsterdam band The Dutch (that exists since 1983 and started a second life last year) I would like to take over the domain www.thedut.ch. You can reach me via this email address. Thank you, best regards, Hans Croon

Dear Hans, thank you for your mail. At present, in the extension of our activities with (…), we are working on the implementation of a co-working space for which a website is being built at present. This space will probably be launched under the name ‘The Dutch’, hence the registration of this domain name.

Of course we are always open to a proposal, however I can’t promise we will take up on that. Of course we will always consider everything seriously and send a response. With regards, K.

Dear K., thanks for your comment. I wonder what exactly you do, I understand that you are a kind of venture capital provider for online startups? If you’re planning to claim the name The Dutch in the public domain, then you have to deal with the golf course under the same name. They own thedutch.nl and thedutch.com, and being a big commercial company, they will probably not give in. We, as a band that was established in 1980, of course have the oldest rights to the name, but I guess we can not derive real rights from it. We think it’s bad enough that we have to share that name with, of all things, a golf course.

We have already started with thedutchband.com. But thedut.ch is actually more fun, so we would love to use that one. Speaking of co-working: when you go live and have a party, we could come to play in exchange for … you understand. Something like that? Kind regards, Hans Croon

Dear K., it’s been some time since we had contact about the domain name thedut.ch. Do you still have serious plans with that domain name? Or else: have you thought about my offer? Best regards, Hans

Hi Hans, we still have plans for the domain name. We very much believe in the international side of the domain and will therefore not switch to alternatives yet. I understand that this is not ideal for you, should we choose to adopt a different decision in the future, I will bring you up to date. Regards, K.

Dear K., is there an update about the domain name thedut.ch? It’s been seven months since we exchanged e-mails on the topic. Are you guys still seriously intend to use it, and if so, how soon? Best regards, Hans

Dear K, a change of plans. The domain name thedut.ch would imply that we have something to do with Switzerland. Quite recently I drove home from Bologna, and as you may know the road leads through Switzerland. I can only say that the Swiss have managed to flash my car with the precision of a Swiss watch three consecutive times in a row for driving 2 miles too fast, and then send me the neat fines, so to speak, when I was still recovering from the journey. As you may understand, something has gone wrong between me and the Swiss, with their all too decent little country. Should they pay us a nice fee in Swiss francs for a gig in Basel, I will probably give in. But to host our website from Switzerland would be too much credit.

I therefore will no longer bother you and wish you and your company every success with the implementation of an international co-working space. Sincerely, Hans Croon
